In December, the National Post ran an article calling women the new “wildcard” in the condominium market. Considering everything we see at Baker Real Estate Incorporated, this is certainly true. Condos hold tremendous appeal for women of all ages, including Gea Koleva, a young public relations professional who rents an apartment and works in Toronto. Gea has purchased her first home, a 605 square-foot suite at Streetcar’s Carnaby Lofts at Queen and Gladstone.
“Getting into the real estate market was the number-one factor in my decision,” she told me. “A condominium was an attainable first choice. According to recent reports, home prices and sales are both increasing in Toronto, and with mortgage interest rates still so low, now is a great time to buy. I am optimistic that my investment will increase in value over the years.”
Gea says that she also appreciates the efficient design of the suite she chose. “It’s a one-bedroom suite with a spacious den and two walk-in closets. The floorplan is thoughtfully laid out, and I was really pleased with Streetcar’s standard selection of finishes. I didn’t have to spend extra money on upgrades. As a single female living with a small dog, I really don’t require a large home at this point in my life. That would involve a lot of maintenance for one person.”
She looks forward to having a full-size Metro grocery store at the base of her condo building and taking Nikko for walks in the nearby urban park. “Queen West is one of the hottest neighbourhoods in Toronto, and will become even more desirable over the next few years,” she explains. “The area has real character, with amazing little art galleries and boutique stores. I have a car, but if I choose to use public transportation instead, the streetcar will literally be at my doorstep. Getting around the city and to and from work will be very convenient.”
Gea says she is also delighted that the maintenance fees at The Carnaby will be reasonable. “Streetcar is including amenities I will actually use, like a gym, party room and terrace with barbecues. I’m happy to pay to have these and the exterior maintenance taken care of. There are a lot of benefits to condo living.”
Well put, Gea – and congratulations on taking this major life step!
